Jailer actor, director G Marimuthu dies while dubbing for TV show
Tamil actor and director G Marimuthu, best known for his role in the popular Tamil TV series 'Ethir Neechal,' tragically passed away from a heart attack at the age of 57. Marimuthu had recently appeared alongside Rajinikanth in the film 'Jailer.'
According to sources, Marimuthu had been at a dubbing session for a serial on Friday but began to feel unwell, prompting him to return home. He was initially taken to a private hospital in Vadapalani, Chennai, before being brought to his residence in Virugambakkam.
Kamalesh, a fellow Tamil serial actor, shared his last interaction with Marimuthu, revealing that Marimuthu had been dubbing at a studio in Vadapalani when he suddenly felt unwell. Kamalesh recounted, "He finished half of the dubbing work and left the studio, citing discomfort. We assumed he would step outside for some fresh air, but he didn't return for a long time. When we checked outside, he had already left in his car. I called his daughter, who informed me that he had been admitted to Suriya Hospital. Sadly, when we arrived there, we learned of his passing. This is a tremendous loss."
Marimuthu's career began in the Tamil film industry as an assistant director. He contributed to several films, including the blockbuster 'Aasai,' starring actor Ajith Kumar and directed by Vasanth Sai. Additionally, he spent years working as an assistant to the national-award-winning poet Vairamuthu.
The sudden loss of Marimuthu has deeply saddened the Tamil film industry, with many offering their condolences and fondly remembering his contributions. Rajinikanth, who acted alongside Marimuthu in 'Jailer,' expressed his grief on Twitter, saying, "Marimuthu was a wonderful person. His passing has left me shocked. My heartfelt condolences to his grieving family."
